A Dog Day Afternoon and More at Koko Marina Center
Archived July 2008 article
Koko Marina Center is celebrating Independence Day with an Indoor/Outdoor Sidewalk Sale from Friday, July 4 through Sunday, July 6, with special discounts at participating merchants during their regular store hours. Han's Gallery will be holding a special silent auction of a rare artist proof giclee from Center Art Gallery. All proceeds will be donated to the Fourth of July at Maunalua Bay Foundation. Bali Pacific Trading will also be celebrating its Grand Opening with goodie bags to the first 50 customers and an enter to win drawing with gift certificates to the store all day long.
And, calling all canine-lovers, Bark Avenue, Pacific Paws Doggie Resort & Spa and Hawaii Kai Veterinary Clinic, will host an all about dogs event on Saturday, July 5th at the Marina Courtyard from 11 am - 2 pm. The event will be a fundraiser for the Hawaii Dog Foundation, to help reach their goal of "No More Homeless Dogs in Hawaii." Volunteers will bring adoptable dogs to a special "Meet & Greet" area where you can find that perfect pet for your family.
To support the Hawaii Dog Foundation, a nonprofit organization focused on bettering the lives of Hawaii's dogs, you can purchase your "Paws for the Cause" discount card for $10 and receive discounts from participating merchants at Koko Marina Center. The cards can be purchased at the Dog Day Afternoon event on July 5th in the Marina Courtyard, or Bark Avenue and Pacific Paws Doggie Day Care. For more information, call Renee at 394-2343.
The foundation is dedicated to finding loving homes for homeless dogs. They support the "no kill" movement with the belief that every healthy dog should have the chance to find a family. They currently use a network of foster homes for rescued dogs but hope to build a shelter. 100 percent of the money raised from the discount card will be donated to fund their projects.
